ENVIRONMENTAL LABELLING OF PACKAGING

Legislative Decree No. 116 of 3 September 2020, which implements EU Directive 2018/851 on waste, and Directive (EU) 2018/852 on packaging and packaging waste, requires producers to indicate on all packaging (primary, secondary and tertiary) the nature of the packaging materials used, based on Commission Decision 97/129/EC, for the purpose of packaging identification and classification.

On 21 November 2022, Ministerial Decree No. 360 of 28 September 2022 was published, adopting the Environmental Labelling Guidelines for the correct fulfilment of packaging labelling obligations by responsible parties.

In compliance with the principles of the free movement of goods, the Guidelines emphasise the possibility of adopting digital channels that can completely replace or supplement the mandatory information directly on the packaging.

In the table below you can see the information and codes useful for labelling our packaging.

For simplification, packaging is grouped by type, identified by a picture and a general description and accompanied by the relevant material coding (according to Decision 97/129/EC).
